Subject: RE: FW: 1884-S Morgan Silver Dollar, MS-63 with Matte Proof Finish

The coin was first owned by my grandfather and then my father. It was mine since 1989. My e-mail is accurate. I don't have a
picture of the coin, but it is very unique and distinctive with the matte proof instead of a mirror finish. There is no other one like it
from the San Francisco mint, at least to my knowledge. It could be discovered once the thieves sell it to a dealer with the other
coins.
It was my father's bright idea to keep it with the common date silver dollars. It was in a paper holder. He thought that if thieves
ever broke into our house, they would take all the coins and probably not know that they got one really valuable coin. Then, when
a dealer bought the 1000 dollars as mainly common dates, he would find the 1884-S when he sorted through them.
I am also very mad about the theft. The police stupidly announced over the police band that the house was vacant when the
EMS crew took my father to the Springfield Hospital in Vermont. This apparently served as an invitation to the criminals. About
2-3 weeks before the theft, my father threatened to shoot two young men on the backsteps if they entered our house. They are
the most likely suspects. However, there is a coin dealer in the area who is a known fence for stolen coins and art! This adds to
the mix.
